Robert Andrews was born in Cecil County, Md. He graduated from College of Philadelphia (now University of Pennsylvania). Ordained to the Anglican ministry, 1772, he served as a chaplain in the American Revolution. Andrews was professor of moral philosophy, mathematics at the College of William and Mary.
